Magic realism photography

Hello, deviants!

Last week I received the assignment of making a magic realism photography journal and, if possible, find tips on how to make a forest look fairy like. Well, I have to disappoint Corsico and webster14 because I didn't find anything about the forest thingie, just some photomanip tutorials, but it's not the same thing. I will therefore, present the magic realism photography article I found and some relevant photos from dA.

MAGIC REALISM PHOTOGRAPHY

Magic realism, or magical realism, is an artistic genre in which magical elements or illogical scenarios appear in an otherwise realistic or even "normal" settings. It has been widely used in relation to literature, art, and film.
As used today the term is broadly descriptive rather than critically rigorous: Matthew Strecher has defined magic realism as "what happens when a highly detailed, realistic setting is invaded by something 'too strange to believe'."

The most important thing while dealing with this kind of artwork is to try and erase the line that stands as a border between reality and fantasy. This is the so called second reality that lives in our inner beings and the point is to tray and set it free. Without thinking about that the artist gives expression to a reality he observes in the people. But as Mexican critic Luis Leal has said: "If you can explain it, then it's not magical realism."

Magical realism is a kind of realism, but one different from the realism that most of our culture now experiences.Magical realism is not speculative and does not conduct thought experiments. Instead, it tells its stories from the perspective of people who live in our world and experience a different reality from the one we call objective. If there is a ghost in a story of magical realism, the ghost is not a fantasy element but a manifestation of the reality of people who believe in and have "real" experiences of ghosts.
Magical realist photography depicts the real world of people whose reality is different from ours. It's not a thought experiment. It's not speculation.

Magical realism endeavors to show us the world through other eyes. When it works some viewers will inhabit this other reality so thoroughly that the "unreal" elements of the story will seem frighteningly real long after the image was seen.

Magical realism leaves you with the understanding that this world of ghosths is one that people really live in and the feeling that maybe this view is correct.
